In order to achieve the best printing results possible with the Sawgrass SG model printers, there are a number of settings to consider within the Print Manager software to help ensure the best print results.

First, it is best to make sure the Print Manager software is up-to-date:

  • On the desktop of your computer, select the "hidden icons" arrow (pointing up), located on the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen and to the right near the time and date.
  • Find the "PM" icon within the hidden icons window. Click the icon to open the PM menu.
  • Select "Help" > "Check for Updates".
  • If any updates are available, run the updates. When finished, check to see if there are any additional updates available to ensure that the most recent Print Manager software version is installed.
    • Sometimes a first update may need to be run before the most recent update to the software is available. This can occur if the software version is several generations behind.

  • Next, ensure the correct version of the Print Manager software is running. Check this by selecting the hidden icons arrow and selecting the PM icon > Options > Edition> Sawgrass.
    • If you are running a different version of Print Manager, meant for use with a different ink set, such as Siser Easy Subli inks, make sure that edition of Print Manager is selected to match the ink type installed in the SG printer.

  • Next, double-check that the correct ink type is selected in the Print Manager software. This setting is found in the print settings window. If necessary, check the ink type you're using by looking at the label of one of the ink cartridges installed in the printer.

  • Next, when printing, make sure you are printing to the Sawgrass Print Manager software instead of directly to the printer. You will need to select the "Sawgrass Print Manager" in the printer selection in the print dialog box. DO NOT select the printer itself.
  • Before printing, also select the "Preferences" button and make sure the correct paper size is selected in the Preferences dialog box.

  • In the Print Manager software, under Materials tab make sure to select the sublimatable product that matches closest to the sublimation product you are working with.
  • If you don't see a selection that makes sense for the item you are going to sublimate, choosing "Polyester" is also normally a good general-use selection for most sublimation products.

  • Next, select the paper type that works best for the paper you are using (THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SETTING FOR CORRECT AND ACCURATE COLORS).
  • If you are using the JPPlus paper, the "J15120/21 S-RACE" setting will usually work the best. This same setting also works well on other popular papers such as A-Sub.
  • If you are using a paper where the name of the paper is listed exactly in the list, please use that selection for that specific paper.
    • Example: printing with the JETCOL DHS paper - use the "JETCOL DHS" selection.
  • Print Quality- always use High Quality
  • Source- select Tray 1 if you're printing from the drawer tray on the front of the printer. Select Bypass if you have a bypass tray attachment and are printing from the Bypass tray.

  • Layout Tab - make sure "Preserve Layout from designer" is selected when printing from Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Draw or other similar programs.

  • Jobs Tab - It is recommended to leave all settings as-is in this tab for most printing scenarios. Bump up the Copies if needed to print more than 1 copy of the artwork.

  • Color Tab - use the following color modes for the listed scenarios:
    • Photographic - Color accuracy, realistic color is desired, and/or color matching is priority, such as when printing photographs or company logos, etc.
    • Vivid - Color accuracy/ color matching is not as important and you would like to make the colors pop and appear slightly brighter on your sublimation product.

  • The color adjustment sliders act much like color correcting a photograph and can be adjusted, however adjusting these settings will change the color of the entire print, not just 1 or 2 colors.
    • If you need to make adjustments to your graphic's color, it is recommended to go back to your graphics layout program and making necessary changes there  instead of using these sliders.
    • One exception is the bottom slider which adjusts color saturation. Adjust this slider up to help intensify the colors of the artwork. Understand that adjusting this slider will change the colors on the entire print and may use a little more ink per print in some cases if this is adjusted up very high.

  • Other Tab - not used for printing.
  • When ready, click the print button to send the artwork to the printer.
